Migration Services: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Migration Services engagements with MYGO Consulting.

How long does a typical ECC to S/4HANA migration take?

Mid-market programs run 6-12 months depending on scope, data complexity, integrations, and desired redesign. We phase by value and risk. Brownfield conversions are typically faster; greenfield reimplementations require more time for process redesign.

Do we have to replace PI/PO immediately?

Mainstream maintenance for NetWeaver 7.5 (PI/PO 7.5) runs through 2027 with optional extended maintenance through 2030. We recommend a staged migration with coexistence to de-risk and capture savings early. A typical coexistence period is around 12 months.

How do you reduce downtime during cutover?

Dress rehearsals, near-zero-downtime techniques where applicable, robust rollback plans, and cutover factory playbooks reduce risk and outage windows. We measure task durations during rehearsals and optimize the cutover sequence to minimize the production window.

What is the difference between brownfield and greenfield migration?

Brownfield converts your existing ECC system to S/4HANA in place, preserving configuration, customizations, and historical data. Greenfield builds a new S/4HANA instance from scratch with redesigned processes and clean-core extensibility on BTP. Selective data transition offers a hybrid path, moving only the data, org units, or processes you want.

What is RISE with SAP and how does it affect our migration?

RISE with SAP bundles S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, BTP, and Business Network in a managed cloud subscription. It simplifies infrastructure but does not eliminate the need for custom code remediation, data migration, or process adaptation. We align your roadmap to the four RISE phases and manage hyperscaler choices and cost models.

How do you handle automated testing during migration?

We deploy pre-built Tricentis Tosca test automation packs covering OTC, P2P, FICO, EWM, and TM business processes. These run automated regression testing after each conversion cycle to catch issues early. API-level mocks enable testing of integration scenarios without waiting for all carrier systems to be connected.
