Frequently Asked Questions
Tricentis Testing Automation: Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Tricentis Testing Automation engagements with MYGO Consulting.
Can we automate scripts that run across multiple systems like Salesforce, SAP, EWM, and invoicing?
Yes. This is one of the biggest advantages of automation; it reduces dependency on multiple teams. A cross-system script can be tested within a day, compared to the 3-4 days usually required with manual coordination across teams.
Can we use multiple sets of data for the same test script?
Yes. Automation tools can store multiple records and execute the script for each record. In TOSCA, this is achieved using Test Case Design (TCD) or Test Data Service (TDS). In Worksoft, it is done by maintaining a recordset.
Can we execute scripts by logging in and out as multiple users?
Yes. The automation developer can create utility scripts that allow execution with different user credentials multiple times by providing the relevant user information. This enables role-based testing without manual login/logout cycles.
Can automation tools scan data and predict new test cases?
No. Automation tools are trained on how the system works through predefined test cases. They do not have the capability to predict new test cases without being provided with the expected results. Test case design remains a human-driven activity.
Why Tricentis over other testing tools?
Tricentis TOSCA provides model-based test automation specifically designed for enterprise applications including SAP. It offers native SAP GUI and Fiori scanning, reducing effort compared to script-based tools. Tricentis is SAP's recommended testing partner with pre-built accelerators for common SAP processes.
How quickly can we start seeing value from test automation?
Most organizations see measurable value within 6-8 weeks. The first automated regression suite covering 20-30 critical business processes can be built and validated in this timeframe, eliminating 1-2 weeks of manual testing per release cycle.
